Workspace Streaming

So I pretty much have all the Office suites virtualized (Office Pro, Visio, and Project). Thing is I have to pre-install the Office Virt App and activate all the licenses before people can use it. Before I take the time to test, can the Office Virt App be "embedded" in to the layer as well? Or would the Hardware Change Detection cause issues?

  Which version of office product are you trying to virtualize, is it office 2007/2010?  Licensing and Activating the license is different between these two products.

I'm not sure on what you menat be Office virt App, can you add some detail so that I can understand what your trying to achieve?  Also, are you creating seprate layer for office, visio and project or having all the 3 apps in single layer?

If your creating office 2007 layer and have the license embedded within the layer then hardward change will not cause any issue and it should work fine. 

 

Thanks for the response. It is Office 2010 using the MAK licenses on separate layers. In order to have Office products virtualized, you need to install the Office Virt App which registers all the licenses and then activate them.

In testing, we push the Office Virt App to the PC, then pull down the virtualized office products. What I'm looking for is a way to include the Office Virt App into the layers so we don't have to push them prior.

I attemtped to capture the install and activation before capturing the Office installation, but this didn't work.

Thanks Ganesh. Of all the searches I've done on this site to virtualize Office, I did not see this one. However, these steps are different than the other, later published articles. I might have to start from scratch yet again. In the Capture App-V section, there's a few step I didn't do. Although, it seems App-V is to be captured after capturing Office and not before as I had done.

Can't edit the post. I wanted to also ask, do we include the App-V in all of the separate packages? Separate packages such as one for Office 2010, one for Project, and one for Visio.

  You need only one App-V layer/package for all the 3 office applications.

So I read over the PDF and ran into some confusion.

I plan on running Office 2010, Visio Pro/Std, and Project Pro/Std individually on their own separate layers. From the PDF it says I should do Setting up a service in a layer, Rearming the 30-day token, and Running Office with multiple layers.

My confusion is where and when in the process do I do these things?

Setting up a Service says to access the layer's registry. Which means Office has been captured already.

Rearming says to capture Office and run the command and don't modify the layer.

Multiple layers says to capture Office and deactivate. Then capture App-V on it's own layer.

 

So basically I want to capture Office, copy the OSPPS files, edit the registry for the Service, then rearm and lastly, deactive? Then on a separate layer, capture App-V, replace the OSPPS files and hide from other layers.

Another question is how do I combine the layers so that when someone pulls down Office they also pull down App-V?

More problems. To access the layers registery for Setting up a Service, I need to deactivate the layer. But then I need to reactivate it to perform the Rearm, then deactive it to perform the Multiple Layer steps?

Also I can not find OSPPrun.exe under MSSharedTools.
