  • 1.  Wake on lan

Wake on lan was working a few weeks ago. Now it won’t work. I go to the DS console and click wake up. But non of the computers power on. I have a computer on my lan setup as a proxy so it will forward wake on lan packets across the wan. Since the NS server is not on site. Today I was looking at stuff on the NS Server from the web and noticed I could do wake on lan from there. I selected a computer clicked on power management and it the computer powered up. I wonder why I can do it from the web interface on the NS but not from the DS console. Ideas?

It's never been 100% reliable most of the time it don't work from the DS console

In my case, restarting the DB Manager Service and express service fixed this issue. It's not a long term fix, but helps to resolve this issue for a while.

Check to see if you have multiple WOL proxies on the subnet. This can cuase issues, have no more than 2.

i used wireshark (snifer) to check if there is WOL packets in the lan segment when i send them.
this way you can tell if the problem is in the console or the client. (assuming the lan was OK )
