We have a number of machines that aer set to go into sleep mode (S3 Standby) after 20 mins of inactivity.  We are finding that while they are in standby, they will not respond to Altiris tasks sent to them and we can not wake them up remotely with the WOL event sent from the Altiris server.  Is there a reliable way to send tasks to PCs that are in standby - or to wake them up remotely?  The PCs themseleves are set to respond to WOL events, but are located on different vlans.  We are using Client Management Suite v7.1 SP2 and the PCs are runing Windows 7.

We can't be unique in this situation - what does everyone else use to push out tasks to PCs in standby?

I've got V7.0 and have never got this to work as it should. I eventually found the tickle command worked but there was a bug in it that menat I couldn't apply to more than 1 machine.Useless. I've given up on this function just now.

Have you verified that the WOL magic packets are actually making it to the target machines? If you are running VLANs then ip helper addresses might not be configured correctly. I have been able to wake up machines from S3 with my Wake on LAN task (Altiris 7.1). When troubleshooting WOL issues my first step is to run Wireshark on the target machine and make sure the packet actually makes it over there.
