    Hi ,

We have planned activity to relocate our servers. This also requires to change hostnames of notification server ,DB server ,Task server and  CEM gateway server.

We are planninng to move in following sequnce -

Please confirm if following sequnce will help to achive change in  hostname of  notification server and change in  hostname of database server  in Altiris 7.5 (VMware environment) -no change in domain.

    1. Apply policy of Alternate URL through - fromhttps://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH415...

If the NS hosted computer has yet been renamed, a better alternative would be to point all NS clients to the new server name first. You can do this by going to the menu Settings > Agents/Plug-ins > Targeted Agent Settings. For each policy in the list, select the "Advanced" tab and specifies the new server name under the "Alternative URL for accessing NS" section. By doing this, all the clients will work automatically once the NS server has been renamed.

    2. Refer document  https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO10091.html  and change PreferredNSHost setting with Notification Server 7

3.Change database server hostname and db details in NS  console.

    4.Disjoin NS server from domain

    5.Rename  NS Server.

    6.Join to domain

    7.Disjoin DB server from domain

    8.Rename  DB Server.

    9.Join to domain

    10.restart Altiris and  DB services.

11.Open altiris  console and check access.

Query - wrt doc no.https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH41511.html , is it required to reinstall Altiris agents on all endpoints ?

    Please help. Regards

If you run through that process in your test lab, does it work?
