  • 1.  Want to use windows firewall with SEP 12.1.6 on windows 7

I am running an unmanaged instance of SEP 12.1.6 (12.1 RU5 MP5) build 7004 on windows 7 enterprise 64-bit. I want to be able to use the standard windows firewall but leave all other security functions of SEP in place. How can I do this? If I go to network threat protection and disable it, and then go to control panel windows firewill still reports that SEP is managing firewall policy. Thanks!

Remove the firewall component from the add/remove programs section in Windows.

if you never which to use SEO firewall please go ahead with firewall component from the add/remove programs in control panel. but if you wish to use SEP firewall in future and doing a temprary testing then unchecking the "enable firewall" in SEP client will turn on the windows firewall.

In control panel I see only one choice "Symantec Endpoint Protection." There doesn't appear to be a way to remove only the firewall component

Because you need to select it and hit change and then remove only the firewall component.
