  • 1.  What Port Exceptions are Needed on PXE Server that has Windows XP Firewall Enabled?

I work for a federal government agency that recently implemented FDCC settings which included firewalling the XP workstations.  Our PXE servers in our remote locations do not work not with the firewall on them.  I am trying to find out what port exceptions need to be implemented on the Windows firewall in order for this to work.  I read through Symantec articles 32592, 17383, and 40429 and put in exceptions for PXEService.exe, PXEManager.exe, and PXE MTFTP.exe.  I also put in port exceptions for the following ports:  67, 68, 69, 4011, 401, and 402.  So far I still receive the Error 53: "No boot filename received" error.

I think u also need access to port 505.  This is set in the PXE confiugration tool it is listed as DB manager port.   This makes PXE talk to DS.

I added port 505 as both a TCP and UDP exception and it still isn't working.  Does File and Printer Sharing need to be turned on?
