Why haven't the old threads been restored??

It depends how you navigate to them. If you use the Forums link it can be problematic, if you use Browse By Product you should see them.

I finally figured it out with your assistance.

 

Very bad design that somebody should fix.

Why wouldnt the link under forums take you to the same place.

Forums is the old way which is being consolidated from multiple communities to a single Security one. Products is the new way to search, It’s likely the forum tab is going to go.
