  • 1.  Wildcards in MAC address for Unmanaged Detector

    Posted Oct 27, 2009 06:13 AM
I have installed Unmanaged Detector for my 23 sites but it proved worthless for me since I´m flooded with reports saying my printers and switches are unmanaged. I don´t want exclude IP ranges since I can't be sure someone will not grab an IP for there workstation from this range.

What I want do do is to put the vendor part of the MAC address in the exclusion without entering the device specific half, (00-0D-54-**-**-**) thus excluding an entire vendor. I have got 300 Lexmark printers but not a single Lexmark computer, and I´m also not very keen on manually entering 150 switches.

Is there a way to use wildcards or can I paste in a list of addresses anywhere?

    /Tomas

    Hi Tomas,

Currently SEPM can accept only one MAC address at a time for creating exclusions. I would recommend you to create an idea for your requirement. May be, we should be able to import a list of MAC addresses or a range of MAC address to exclude a vendor, as you mentioned in your post.

I would also suggest, that for the time being, if you can group your network devices, like printers in a single IP range and exclude them directly as a range.
