  • 1.  Windows 10 Build Updates Using Altiris?

I haven't seen this yet so I will ask.  Is symantec planning on supporting Windows 10 build updates as part of the patch managemnt system?  This is critical as we move forward with Windows 10.  I already have about 300 copmuters on campus running Windows 10 and will need some method to get build updates out.

Symantec Patch Management is for security updates, not product updates. There is a KB article on how to distribute Windows 10 Product Updates:

"Upgrading to Windows 10 or upgrading an existing version of Windows 10 using Software Management Solution"

@andykn101 - In my eyes, feature updates are security updates even though they aren't officially classified as such because if you're too far behind in feature updates (current or one before), you no longer get security updates.

I posted a bunch in the above linked thread, I am planning on following up with Symantec on this once/if Shavlik supports it (they may with the anniversary update, I haven't had a chance to look into that yet).

The danger is that larger organisations don't want to give their Patch Management Administrator the ability to provide feature and product updates that may break critical functionality or create new vulnerabilities, such as the "Find my Device" option might allow.

I think we'll have to stick to using Software Delivery for a while.
