My company requested that any user who VPNs into the network from their home computers install Symantec Endpoint Protection using an installer provided by the company.  Running Windows 10 on my PC, I installed Symantec.  Upon installation, it announced that it was not compatible.  However, I cannot uninstall it from the Add/Remove Programs window, and when I try to uninstall or modify the installation using the Change option (which gets me the Symantec installer menu) it exits out saying that the installer was killed.  I also cannot open the program to modify any settings from the icon in the system tray- clicking it gets me a popup stating that it it not compatible with this version of Windows.  Symantec appears to run on login, but it is not in the list of things I can remove in the Startup list.

It is not clear to me whether I have any virus protection from Symantec, and I cannot roll back to Windows Defender without Symantec telling me I can't do that.  Please help!

What is the exact version of SEP you're trying to install? The first supported version for Windows 10 is 12.1.6.1.

Endpoint Protection support for Windows 10

It sounds like they gave you the wrong version.

You should request the Cleanwipe utility to fully remove and install again using the supported version.
