  • 1.  Windows 7 cannot installed with WinPE4 / Driver missing

    Hi,

I know the problem is discussed so much.
But I still have a big problem.

We are running altiris 7.5 Sp1 HF5. OS-Deployment is working well with most of our systems.
But some systems with third party storage controlles eg. Dell Perc H310 oder LSI SAS2 controller (HP Z820) did not work.

The storage-controller is present in WinPE. I've access to all my drives. The installation starts. Windows 7 expands all the files... at the last step. Windows 7 tries to load the drivers from WinPE (X:\Windows\System32\driverstore\filerepository). This step failed "cannot load lsi_sas2.inf".
The same problem also occures with the dell Perc H310 Controller and the Intel C600 Controller.

For driver integration we use deploy anywhere. All drivers will be identified correctly. The Drivers for Windows are located in C:\DS_SOI\Symantec\Deployment\Drivers.
While searching I found the following KB from MS https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2871318 but it didn't worked for me.

    any Ideas?

    Thanks

Have you tried to add a task to copy drivers over from an alternate location to test if they then will be used?

I'm not used DeployAnywhere, so cannot help too much with this part, but in general, I would first copy the controller drivers for the exact model from elsewhere and confirm they still won't be picked up and used to excude the possibility of wrong drivers being used.

As far as I remember Winpe4 has newer drivers inside it's driver store and Win 7 setup uses these instead of the OEM ones. Importing Windows 8 sources and swapping the install.wim with the one from Win 7 did the trick.
