I need some help with an issue with Windows Firewall. We disable Windows Firewall so that it does not interfere with Symantec. But for some reason it keeps turning back on, on its own. I tried the Windows Integration setting on the Firewall Policy. I set it to Disable Always and Enabled the Message for Windows Firewall Disabled. But when I labbed that setting, Windows Firewall was still on. I need help on how to keep this off because it is interfering with more and more computers. Thank you!

What's the exact SEP client version in use and for what OS is this occurring on?

SEP Client Versio is 14.0.1904.000

And the OS is Windows 7 Pro

You're running the RTM version of SEP 14 (first version from October 2016). Do you have the option to upgrade to SEP 14. RU1 MP1 on the problem client to test? I believe this was a known issue/bug and has since been fixed. I'd have to dig around for the KB article or fix notes though.

I could test that. But why wouldn't the setting in it's fiewall policy not disable the firewall?

Was this working previously, without this happening? Or did something change, like upgrading to this version of SEP 14?

We weren't having issues until last week. Then Windows Firewall was preventing computers from communicating with our servers.

And the policy on the client matches what's showing in SEPM?

If nothing has changed on the SEP end, it will be tough to say from my perspective. Since you can re-produce this, I'd suggest collecting data and getting it over to support:

Should be a full a SymDiag report that's needed.

The Policy on the client has the Windows Integration Setting on its Firewall Policy. But even after the heartbeat it does not disable Windows Firewall. Just trying to figure out why that would be.
