    Hi all,

A very random and basic question, but I need help!

I have been forced to buy a "server" for some specific accounting software and I would like to install some anti-virus software on it.

Ideally I want to use Symantec, but am confused on what I actually need!

I think I may need Symantec Endpoint Protection SBE, but it seems to want to install a console and I can then deploy clients.....but I just want a simple client on my server, not a server-client on my server if that makes sense?

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks for your help.

    Ben

its its just one server install only Symantec endpoint protection client

download from fileconnect and run the setup.exe

    select custom

    install only AV/AS

if you want to manage many more clients then you need to install symantec endpoitn protection manager which is a console

How to install Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition clients

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH93328

    To install an unmanaged client

    1. On the computer, insert the product disc(what you have downloaded from file connect https://fileconnect.symantec.com
    2. )
The installation starts automatically. If it does not start automatically, double-clickSetup.exe.
    3. Click Install an unmanaged client, and then click Next.
    4. On the License Agreement Panel, click I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.
    5. Confirm that the unmanaged computer is selected, and then click Next.
This panel appears when you install the client software for the first time on a computer.
    6. On the Protection Options panel, select the protection types, and then click Next.
      See "Client installation settings," above.
    7. On the Ready to Install the Program panel, click Install.
    8. On the Wizard Complete panel, click Finish.

Thanks Rafeeq. Do you know if there is a trial version I can install and if not, what exactly I need to buy?

You're best off going with Norton for this:

    OK, thanks guys.

@Brian, will this version work on "Windows 2012 essentials server"?

@Rafeeq, I downloaded that version, but there is no option to install an unmanaged client, it is greyed out?

I am guessing trialware does not support an unmanaged client......so happy to buy, just need to double check what I need....

    Shall I go for:

Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition

    or

    Symantec Endpoint Protection

The top one is licensed "per endpoint" and the bottom one is just "x year essential support"?

    Thanks for your help guys!
