We are install SEPM 12.1.5 with the emebeded databse on Windows server 2012R2. The install finishes but we cannot log in as admin with the password we set during the install. So, I run the reset password utility and the db will no longer start.

That is when the issue starts is after rebooting the server.

Enable FINEST debugging and re-produce the issue. Check the scm-server-0.log

SEP 12.1 RU6 has been released and now available to download at flexnet.

It has one following as well, make sure you are no longer affected by same.

Errors display after upgrading SEPM to 12.1 RU5

    Fix ID: 3685209

Symptom: After an upgrade to 12.1 RU5, attempts to log on to SEPM through the hostname may result in a failure, with the error message “Request contents are invalid” and the error code 0x120c0000.

Solution: Modified tamper detection functionality to handle all host names correctly.

This was a clean install. So, does the admin password have to match the embeded db password?

With clean install it shouldn't be the case, have you tried to repair the SEPM?

Is there a limitation on the password with the embeded database?

Note: Downloading 12.1.6 as we speak.

If it's a fresh install, unintall existing version and then perform a fresh install of SEP 12.1 RU6
