    Here is what we have:

    Version: 6.1 SP6
    Build Number: 6.3.1.53

Our current layout is, we have a STE Server a seperate MS SQL enterprise 2003 r2 32bit database server and a UNC Path to a CIFS Share on a Netapp Appliance.

What is the maximum size of a Package can be streamed out you have experienced or know of, any limitations? (reason: I have an application that we are trying to stream out 11GB in size, but always seems to stop "Caching" around 800 MB, and can crash the Clients themselves.) I have tried precaching the Package to local computer and still gets stuck around the 800 MB out of 11 Gig file.

At what point in the caching does the package attempt to run it, could that be a reason why this is happening? How do I just have it download entirely before i can even run?

    Any Tips/Suggestions would be great.

If we go with this product, our enviroment is a School District with over 5000 Computers and Laptops, our goal is to stream pretty much everything we can throw at it.

    Thank you.

    Hi Brian,

you could be hitting a CIFS limitation, I remember reading articles on the internet. We've tried upto 20GB but, never over network share. You can try using a SAN.

    > At what point in the caching does the package attempt to run it, could that be a reason why this is happening?

The application attempts to run once the absolute mandatory portion of the app has streamed. This is what we call the start-up block. You could explicitly train your package to get optimal start-up blocks.

    > How do I just have it download entirely before i can even run?

You can do this by setting the application to offline. Then on the machine where it has reached offline ready, set that to be the start-up block. This could achieve what you are attempting. But, by doing this you lose the whole idea of streaming :). BTW, can you please tell what is this app that is 11GB in size? Does it contain a lot of graphic and or other media resources?

This is perfect! We have a lot of customers in the Education sector including very large school districts.

    Hope this helps.

First of all, I would like to thank you for your response. You answered few of my questions that hadn't been posted, like the start block button, and thus you have given me some more ideas.

    >BTW, can you please tell what is this app that is 11GB in size? Does it contain a lot of graphic and or other media resources?

The application itself is small, but the program has over a thousand media files that is required, the reason why we are trying to virtulize this app is that it uses a hacked version of quicktime when installs will break our quicktime, the isolation mode is great to overcome the poorly designed program..

    Imagine Learning is the software.

I will look into setting up an ISCSI target and test that out.
