  • 1.  "You have chosen a computer that has expired"

    Hello,

    Today, we were going through the Altiris Deployment Console and in selecting one of the machines, we were given an error message saying "Error: You have chosen a computer that has expired.  Clients that are expired cannot be managed until a license is purchased for them and they have been flagged in the Computer Properties dialog box to accept a regular license."  Nothing else about our system appears to have expired and we were wondering what exactly has happened.

    If we go further into the properties of that machine, there's a message that says "Hewlett-Packard clients have an automatic 30-day license.  To purchase an ongoing license to manage these clients, visit the website."  Based on this, it sounds as if our machines were coming with Altiris clients that needed some kind of activation.  Is that correct?  And if so, is there any simple way to activate them?

    You have enough licenses? This sounds like DS 6.9?! 

    If so try the following, Right Click on the workstation, choose from the right click menu "Advanced" then from the new menu choose "Apply Regular License". One of your licenses should now be applied to the machine to avoid machines running out of their trial licenses and end like this go to Tools/Options/Global and check "Automatically replace expired trial licenses with available regular licenses.

    Exactly what Sascha said.  If your licenses are short or if you're confused on what you thought you were getting with HP systems, contact your Symantec sales representative.
