Given the numerous problems the 3rd party apps including but not necessarily limited to Java, Apache, Tomcat, Redhat, etc...  have caused customers over the past couple of years, it's time for Symantec to drop the 3rd part apps and return to your OWN code.  Symantec AV Corp Ed 10.1 and earlier is 100x more reliable and stable than SEP 11.05 or 12.0x.  Symantec Mail Security for SMTP Gateways 4.1 and earlier was much more reliable than Mail Security (not called Brightmail Gateway) 5, 7, or 8 (there was no 6).  The reliance on 3rd party code has cost many hours of downtime that simply was never a problem before you started using it.

To make matters worse, you continue to use outdated 3rd party apps, the latest Brightmail continues to use a VERY old version of Redhat, without patching those apps on a regular basis.  While your PMs claim they're locked down tight as a drum, nothing is 100% secure and I doubt anyone at Symantec would state that so it's only a matter of time before one of these 3rd party apps causes a breach and then we'll all be on McAfee or Baracuda, or something other than Symantec.

Go back to your own code, dump the 3rd party junk, and innovate on your own.  We'll all be better off.
