We try to find a way to report about the current installed Automation Folder a computer... No way.

Why not into the "basic inventory", so we can verify easily if corrected installed, and correct updated version ?

Perhaps we can workaround with a "file inventory", (if any sugest, you're welcome), but our request: integrate it into Basic inventory data, not requiring the "inventory" solution, as customers with "Deployment solution" license only, are not having 'Inventory' solution...

Currently escalted to Symantec support for any workaround, I will update there. :) Thanks Pierre.

A policy is in place to ensure that the automation folder get upgraded, so there is no need to report the present version on the client back to the server.

Only easy available option so far:

1. Use the filter for that policy to display all machines which have not received and executed the policy yet.

2. Use a remove/install policy to re-deploy the automation folder to all devices.
(To ensure al machines having last availabe version)

Of course it would be possible to create/build up a SQL query which list up when the clients have received or executed the upgrade policy for the last time.

The "upgrade" process needs help, and we know that.  In fact, after looking at it, I'm not sure we even have a valid filter that shows a computer's "version" of automation folders, so I'm not sure you could even use that filter.

I think we need to create a form of inventory to do this.  And right now, that would require some custom work, I believe.

I'll check to verify, but currently, that's "our story, and we're sticking to it" in support.  That said, it's long overdue that we find out if there's a better way we can press for.

Doing that now.

There's always table Inv_Agent_Plugin_Inventory which has a IsAutomationInstalled flag. Unfortunatly AutomationPackageVersion is not populated. I'm not sure if this is an omission, a future field to be populated or if it's only in our installation where it's not working.

Yes that table looks like the one needed indeed, especially as it also has an InAutomation column too.

Perhaps the AutomationPackageVersion column only gets populated when inventory is run when the machine is in automation, or have you already tried that?

The IsAutomationInstalled column probably gets populated when the AutomationPackageVersion column is?
