Changing SEPM Server Name and IP address

Jan 29, 2011 12:11 AM

IT is very probable that we need to change the Symantec Endpoint Protection server name and IP address both together. For example you need to move the SEPM server from one physical server to another one.

This video shows you a very simple method to do so. However there are some other ways which maybe more complicated than this one.

1- To transfer the Policies, simply export them from SEPM1 and import them in the policies group and apply them on the desirable groups.

2- Using this method you cannot move the logs, and they will be remained on the SEPM1.

3- There is no replication happening in this method and both the servers are totally separated and stand alone. In this method no data will be sent, received or transacted between the servers and all the configurations and data are either created by the administrator or retrieved from the clients.

Please let me know if more explanation is needed.

How by means of the given method to move  politics and logs with SEPM1 on SEPM2?

At me the similar task - http://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/migration-clients-other-server-sepm

Whether at usage of your method possibility in the future will add to SEPM2 the replication partner?
