Collection of Personal Information Generally

Through this website we collect information that you actively submit, such as your name, address, email address, phone number, title, company and information regarding the products and services you express interest in. We also receive information automatically from you when you visit our site – e.g., from your computer and web browser – which we describe in more detail in our Blue Coat Cookie Statement. We collect information in order to provide you with a better web experience, more customized emails, better products and services and to increase our responsiveness to our customers and potential customers, as well for the specific purposes and programs described below.  This information may be gathered when you visit the Blue Coat website or otherwise interact with us.

Use of Information Generally

Blue Coat uses the personal information collected through this site for internal and service-related purposes, such as: to fulfill your requests for products, services or information; to deliver or otherwise provide requested products, services and updates; to inform you about the latest product developments or software updates; to provide other information from us or from our business partners that we believe will be of interest to you; to comply with applicable laws and protect our and others’ legal rights; and to improve the content and general administration of our website.  We may also use your personal information to send you, or to have our business partners send you, direct marketing information or to contact you for market research. Collection and Use of Information Obtained through Specific Programs

User Registration
Blue Coat collects personal information from you when you register to create a Blue Coat account. As part of the registration process, you are required to provide certain personal information, including your name, company name, email address, title, location, and phone number, industry, role and purchasing time frame. Blue Coat may use this information for the following purposes: to inform you about products, seminars and services Blue Coat believes may be of interest to you; to contact you if Blue Coat needs to obtain or provide additional information; and to verify the accuracy of Blue Coat’s records.

BlueTouch Online
Access to certain Blue Coat Web pages, including Blue Coat’s BlueTouch Online pages, requires a log in and a password and may further require the creation of a personal account, which requires your provision of your name, address, email address, and phone number, as well as whether you are associated with a reseller or end user (and, if an end user, the products or services used). The use of the BlueTouch Online pages, and the information or programs downloadable from those pages, may be governed by an agreement between Blue Coat and your employer as the end user of a Blue Coat product or service. The personal information obtained in connection with the creation of a personal account may be used by Blue Coat to: identify end users of Blue Coat products and services and to associate specific products (including models and serial numbers) with those end users; communicate with you regarding the provision of product support; verify compliance with the end user agreement; issue license keys; track software downloaded from BlueTouch Online pages; and to track usage of other applications available on those pages. The information obtained about you is maintained in a separate database and may be used to communicate with you about supporting your Blue Coat product or service and may also be used for the marketing purposes described below.

Partner Portal
Blue Coat may collect information related to individual representatives of Blue Coat’s business partners through its Partner Portal and other partner programs, including, for example, name, address, email address and phone number, as well as association with Blue Coat’s business partners and certification status.  The use of the Partner Portal, the information or programs downloadable from those pages, and other aspects of the business relationship may be governed by an agreement between Blue Coat and your employer as a partner of a Blue Coat.  The personal information obtained in connection with the creation of a personal or business partner account or otherwise collected through the Partner Portal or other partner programs may be used by Blue Coat to: communicate with you regarding the provision of products and services to our customers, manage our business relationship, and conduct related tasks for legitimate business purposes.

Marketing Programs
Blue Coat collects personal information from you when you voluntarily provide such information in connection with participation in one of our marketing programs. Blue Coat may use this information, as well as information obtained through your use of this website, User Registration, BlueTouch Online, or third party sources, to communicate with you in connection with various marketing programs, including advertising, direct marketing, seminars and events and Web-based programs, such as Webcasts and podcasts. We aim to obtain appropriate consent (where required under applicable law) to send you marketing communications.

Employment Applications
You may submit personal information through use of our website to be considered for employment at Blue Coat or a Blue Coat subsidiary or affiliate. Such information includes your name, your address, your phone number, your email address, job preferences, experience, desired salary, relocation preferences, work authorization, security clearance, education, job skills and other information contained on your resume or curriculum vitae (CV). Blue Coat uses such information solely for consideration of your candidacy for employment, to communicate with you and to generate related correspondence, including offer letters and employment agreements.

Website Tracking and Cookies

We use standard technologies, such as cookies and other HTML tools as described in the Blue Coat Cookie Statement, which Blue Coat may amend from time to time. We do not allow third parties to collect personally identifiable information directly from visitors of our website and currently we do not respond to ‘do not track’ signals or similar mechanisms.

Disclosure of Personal Information

Disclosure to Third Parties
Blue Coat may hire affiliated or unaffiliated service providers to provide services on its behalf, including packaging and delivery, sending postal and electronic mail, providing support services, including technical support, and processing event registrations. Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to request access to and receive information about the personal information we maintain about you, update and correct inaccuracies in your personal information, and have the information blocked or deleted, as appropriate.  You also may have the right to object to our processing of your personal information and withdraw your consent to our processing of your personal information at any time.  The right to access personal information may be limited in some circumstances by local law requirements.  Please note that you may not be able to benefit from all features of the website if you request the deletion of your personal information, object or withdraw your consent to the processing your personal information.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Blue Coat reserves the right to assess an administrative fee for providing access to your personal information.
