The Future of Symantec Certification and Network Protection (Blue Coat) Certification
On July 1, 2017, new pricing for SCS certification exams will go into effect. The fee to register for a certification exam will be $250 per exam for all countries to align with Network Protection (Blue Coat) pricing.
On July 1, 2017, the Symantec Certification Program will begin to provide global availability of proctored exams in Pearson VUE testing centers for all Network Protection (Blue Coat) technical exams that lead to product certification. Proctored exams increase the technical credibility and market recognition for our customers, partners, and Symantec employees (i.e., end users). End users can increase their level of technical proficiency by completing exams in the proctored environment. End users will benefit from greater opportunity for career advancement and increased opportunities.

Effective October 1, 2017, Network Protection (Blue Coat) technical exams will only be available in Pearson VUE proctored testing centers globally. Until then, Network Protection (Blue Coat) technical exams will continue to remain available at Prometric through September 30, 2017. Starting in August/September 2017, Symantec will be recognize your knowledge gained along the learning journey with badges & digital credentials that will result in greater visibility for customers and partners that publish their credentials online. Digital credentials will be earned by passing an SCS Certification exam. In addition to receiving a PDF certificate, you will instead receive a digital, shareable, and verifiable credential that you can post across various social media platforms. The digital credential is also clickable and viewable to customers, managers and potential employers so that others can view and verify your credential details.
Additionally, Symantec will introduce a new SCS expiration policy. Starting August/September, newly released SCS exam credentials will expire after 24-months from the date achieved. After 24-months candidates may have the option to complete Symantec eLearning continuing education in order to extend their existing SCS credential for 12-months (i.e., a candidate can hold an active SCS credential for a total of 36-months from the date achieved). Or, candidates will have the option to pass a newer version of an SCS exam and remain valid for 24-months from the date achieved. Stay tuned for an FAQ in the upcoming weeks.

Legacy & New Exams
Many of the Symantec certification exams will be replaced by a newer product version of the exam as technology and trends continue to evolve. Symantec updates SCS exams approximately every 12 months depending on industry demands. Legacy exams will be retired 60 days after a newer version of the exam is released.

Additionally study of the course content, exam objectives, sample questions, product documentation, and on-the-job experience, are also recommended. Be cautioned that attendance in a training course does not guarantee passage of a certification exam.
