Symantec's Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier Named PC WORLD Best Buy

Advanced Protection/Problem-Solving Suite Noted For Ease-of-Use, Quality

CUPERTINO, Calif. - June 8, 2005 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the global leader in information security, today announced that Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier was named Best Buy by PC World magazine. Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier is the ultimate solution to recover and protect valuable information, prevent and solve common computer problems, and maintain PC health. According to the June 2005 issue of the publication, Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier outperformed competitors to earn four out of five stars and the coveted Best Buy designation.

"Symantec is pleased to receive the prestigious Best Buy award from PC World magazine," said Matthew Moynahan, vice president Consumer Products and Solutions, Symantec Corp. "This honor underscores Symantec's commitment to providing consumers and small office users the proactive data protection, recovery capabilities, and best of class problem-solving solutions they need in a single, intuitive, and tightly integrated suite."

"…Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier earned our Best Buy award for its ease of use and the quality of its tools," PC World editors wrote. "[It] tops our list of all-in-one packages."

PC World tested four suites to find the right mix to keep PCs productive and secure. Editors evaluated their features, ease of use, and ease of installation, and tried to detect any performance improvements.

In selecting Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier as Best Buy, editors singled out the suite's unique features, including the addition of Norton Ghost for backup, recovery, and system disk upgrades. They also pointed to the inclusion of additional useful tools such as Norton GoBack for restoring systems to a previous healthy state, CheckIt Diagnostics for running system diagnostics, and System Optimizer for gathering Windows configuration controls in a single program. Editors also commended Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier for incorporating a "handy PC recovery boot CD," Symantec Recovery Disk, which supports the Windows NTFS file system.

Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier includes Symantec's award-winning Norton Ghost, Norton AntiVirus, Norton Utilities, Norton GoBack, and it also features CheckIt Diagnostics, System Optimizer, Performance Test and Process Viewer. Its integrated solution protects PCs from viruses, optimizes performance, and safeguards information through backup and data recovery. One Button Checkup allows users to quickly identify and fix common PC problems and remove unwanted information while LiveUpdate automatically downloads updates to keep PCs and their valuable data protected against new threats.
