Symantec is standardizing to Essential Support globally as its entry-level Maintenance offering for on-premises enterprise software products. The Basic Maintenance offering is no longer aligned with Symantec’s security strategy or the critical demands of our Customers who require around-the-clock support.
Basic Maintenance has already been discontinued in the America’s. In EMEA and APJ, it is available on a restricted basis for certain buying programs and products, and is now being phased out in these regions as follows:
- From 3rd April 2017, Basic Maintenance will no longer be available to purchase as a new offering.
- Existing Customers with Basic Maintenance can continue to renew as normal until August 2017.*
- From August 2017, Basic Maintenance renewals will be possible for Express Buying Program Customers only.
Customers outside of the Express Buying Program are encouraged to transition to Essential Support at next renewal. For more information, talk to your Reseller or consult our FAQ.
*Note: Applies to existing product versions only. New product releases including upgrades will not have Basic Maintenance available and will be required to renew with Essential Support SKUs.
