Symantec Shared Service Provider PKI: Federal and Non-Federal
Compliance for FIPS 201 and HSPD-12
Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), authorized in August 2004, mandates that all U.S. Federal Government employees and contractors be issued a secure and reliable form of identification.
SSP PKI operates at multiple assurance levels defined by the Federal e-Authentication program and achieves interoperability with the Federal PKI through cross-certification with the Federal Bridge Certification Authority (FBCA). It also supports standards being developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the issuance of First Responder Authentication Cards (FRAC).
