Multiple Veritas products are prone to an arbitrary command-injection vulnerability because they fail to properly sanitize user-supplied input. An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary shell commands in the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions. The following Veritas products are affected: Veritas Access 7.4.2 and prior, Veritas Access Appliance 7.4.2 and prior, Veritas Flex Appliance 1.2 and prior, Veritas InfoScale 7.3.1 and prior,7.4.0 and 7.4.1, Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) 6.2.1 and prior on Linux/UNIX, Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) 6.1 and prior on Windows, Veritas Storage Foundation HA (SFHA) 6.2.1 and prior on Linux/UNIX, Veritas Storage Foundation HA (SFHA) 6.1 and prior on Windows.

Block external access at the network boundary, unless external parties require service.
Filter access to the affected computer at the network boundary if global access isn't needed. Restricting access to only trusted computers and networks might greatly reduce the likelihood of a successful exploit.
Deploy network intrusion detection systems to monitor network traffic for malicious activity.
Deploy NIDS to monitor network traffic for signs of anomalous or suspicious activity. This may indicate exploit attempts or activity that results from successful exploits.
