Description

Dell Command Update is prone to multiple arbitrary-file-deletion vulnerabilities. Successfully exploiting these issues will allow attackers to delete arbitrary files in the context of the application. Dell Command Update version prior to 3.1 are vulnerable.

Recommendations

Block external access at the network boundary, unless external parties require service.
Block access to the vulnerable server at the network boundary. Allow access only from trusted hosts and networks.

Run all software as a nonprivileged user with minimal access rights.
Running the server with the least amount of privileges required will limit the consequences of successful exploitation of this and other latent vulnerabilities.
