Date Discovered

Do not follow links provided by unknown or untrusted sources.
This and related issues could be exploited through a malicious web page. Users should be cautious about visiting links provided by untrusted or unfamiliar sources or websites of questionable integrity.

Set web browser security to disable the execution of script code or active content.
Since the exploitation of some of these issues allows malicious script code to execute in web clients, consider disabling support for script code and active content within a client browser. Note that this mitigation tactic might adversely affect legitimate websites that rely on the execution of browser-based script code.

Run all software as a nonprivileged user with minimal access rights.
Ensure that tasks such as browsing the web are always performed as an unprivileged user with minimal access rights. This can reduce the impact of latent vulnerabilities in the browser.

Microsoft has released fixes for supported operating system versions. Fixes for Internet Explorer 5.5 SP 2 running on Windows ME and Internet Explorer 6 SP 1 running on Windows 98/98SE/ME can be obtained through the Microsoft Update website or the Windows Update website. Please see these referenced advisories for further information: - Avaya has released advisory ASA-2005-234 detailing affected Avaya products. - Nortel security advisory 2006006570 is available.
