Description

This signature detects attempts to exploit a buffer overflow vulnerability in MS Word which may result in remote code execution.

Additional Information

A remote code execution vulnerability exists in the way that Office handles specially crafted Rich Text Format (.rtf). The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted .rtf file that includes malformed strings. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.
