recovery point

An exact copy of a drive stored in one or more compressed files. Recovery points are created each time a backup is run. When you need to recover files, folders, or your entire computer, you must select a recovery point that was created before your data was lost or damaged. There are two types of recovery points: recovery point sets, and independent recovery points. See recovery point set, independent recovery point.
