Cascade is a virus originally triggered between October 1 and December 31, 1988. After an infected program is executed, characters on the screen drop down into a pile at the bottom of the display. The original .1701 and .1704 versions of Cascade are widespread, and many minor variants, which vary little from the original, exist today.

The Cascade family of viruses includes nearly 40 strains.
