The program reports false or exaggerated system security threats on the computer.





The user is then prompted to pay for a full license of the application in order to remove the errors.





Installation
When the program is executed, it creates the following files:
  • %UserProfile%\Desktop\AntiVirProtect.lnk
  • %UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\AntiVirProtect\AntiVirProtect.lnk
  • %UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\AntiVirProtect\Uninstall.lnk
  • %ProgramFiles%\AntiVirProtect\AntiVirProtect.exe
  • %ProgramFiles%\AntiVirProtect\AntiVirProtect.lic
  • %ProgramFiles%\AntiVirProtect\AntiVirProtect0.ap
  • %ProgramFiles%\AntiVirProtect\AntiVirProtect1.ap
  • %ProgramFiles%\AntiVirProtect\AntiVirProtect0.dll
  • %ProgramFiles%\AntiVirProtect\AntiVirProtect1.dll
  • %ProgramFiles%\AntiVirProtect\AntiVirProtect3.dll
  • %ProgramFiles%\AntiVirProtect\Uninstall.exe
  • %SystemRoot%\samples\AntiVirProtectSetup.exe


Next, the program creates the following registry entry/ies so that it executes whenever Windows starts:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\"AntiVirProtect" = "C:\Program Files\AntiVirProtect\AntiVirProtect.exe"

It also creates the following registry subkeys:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AntiVirProtect
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AntiVirProtect
