Creating a SEP 11 Custom Unmanaged Installation with Current Updates

Greetings, i have been googling and searching these forums tonight getting myself more and more confused.

I am hoping someone can help me understand how to create an installer "zip", "iso", "folder", that we can point our staff to or which we can use when we are doing an UNManaged client install on Windows XP.  What I am trying to do is to integrate/slipstream this package with the latest definitions.

    I found the article at:

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/2326c6a13572aeb788257363002b62aa/c7a72ad01d122b13882574330072026a?OpenDocument

Which if I understand it is great if you are deploying a package to managed clients.  I tried taking the original media, and a copy of the latest definitions from:

    http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions/certified/index.jsp

i used 7zip to extract the files out and copied the virscan.zip file into the directory where the original media was and saved it as VDefHub.zip thinking...no it can be this easy.....and sure enough it wasn't :)

Also is there an easy way to specify the installation only install AV and the smtp and Outlook filters?  Not the Proactive Protection or any other features?

    Thanks very much,

    Ron

    Hello Rterren,

The above document would hold good for managed as well as unmanaged
all you have to do is while exporting select the option , export as unmanaged
after unchecking single exe option.follow the article to have latest defs and create single exe.

You can create a custom installation settings which would just have whatever you wanted to .

Click on Client Install feature set
-Right click in the right hand window and click Add
give it a name say custom feature
select what ever you want to add/modify
    click on okay

now slect 32 client installation packages
    click on export
in the option "select the client install feature set " click the drop down menu
you should your custom feature in the list
(in the same way you have have installation options)

    export as unmanaged

follow the virus defs doc and you should have everythign in place.
    hope this helps

    Good day !
