  • 1.  How to delete a corrupt managed software delivery policy

    Posted Feb 03, 2012 08:13 AM

    Hello altogether,

we are trying here to delete a managed software delivery policy, but without success. It always tells that this policy is being referenced by other Items. When I then click ond show references then there are no results returned. If I try to switch this policy off and then save it, I get a Symantec Management Server Error.

I didn't change anything on that server and also all other policies are working properli. Also the connection to the database is okey.

In Altiris Log Viewer I get the following message:
Description: Error while Createing Managed Delivery Job - System.NullReferenceException:

How can I delete this policy? Can I do this through the SQL DB?

Altiris CMS Version is 7.1 SP1.

    Thanks in advance.
    Kind Regards

If this doesn't work you're in trouble:

Unable to delete item due to dependencies http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH147435

"1. Delete all entries in ItemReference where the GUID of the object to be deleted is set the ParentItemGuid

    2. Pass the GUID of the item into the following URL

    http://localhost/Altiris/NS/Admin/Menu Items/DeleteItem.aspx?itemguid=<guid>

    This should delete the item."

Didn't work for me and I've had a support call with Symantec open for 2 days now.

    Thanks a lot andykn101.

Fortunately this solution worked for my policy! Altough I couldn't delete the policy with the open posted link but with the context menu in the console.

    Thanks a lot again!

    Kind Regards,
