    Hi All,

    Could anyone share with me how to calculate/draft server specs that will be used for MS SQL host for 50-60k users for our customer upcoming SEPM installation?

    This server will be defintely dedicated only for MS SQL.

    regards

    Hi All,

    Thanks for the replies! I'll go through all slowly..

    How about the minimum Proc and RAM needed for this number of users?

    Hi All,

    Thanks again for the replies! Is there any kind of calculation table/formula for hardware?

    We probably gonna use the latest version of OS and MS SQL for both  (console server & sql server) :

    OS: Win Server 2008 x64

    Ms SQL: Ms SQL 2008 R2

    This is important since we must know if there would be any specifications different between the console server and the db server.

    Do take note also that we have another console server as a backup/load balancing/replication partner.

    regards

    Keep in mind that SEP using the embedded database supports up to 5k users, and with SQL, up to 50k users.

    Since you are going to be right at if not over the defined limits by Symantec, I'd break things up to two different environments.  Seeing as how you probably have these devices across a large geographic region, I'd logically divide the machines amongst two different installations.

    cus000,

    As far as I can tell, the push deployment (Migration and Deployment Wizard) still doesn't work on a 64-bit Windows server OS, and of course the Central Quarantine server and console are not certified on any 64-bit OS. This is as of SEP11RU6MP1, my 64-bit server is a Dell PE1950, dual Xeon, WS2008R2.

    Package creation is WAY faster on the 64-bit OS, however. :)

    Hi All,

    Thanks again for the replies!!

    I see some concern put by Loel and teiva that i might missed out..

    @Loel

    Any idea or suggestion on how to draft server specs for this dedicated sql host? Pracand quoted (min specs):

    Processor : Quad Core Xeon

    Processor : Quad Core Xeon Processors @ 3.7Ghz

    Memory : 16GB -32 GB

    My question is, is this figure coming from experience or from smart guessing?

    @teiva

    Hmm but really is the limit with SQL is 50k users? I tought it's *unlimited* as far as the hardware can support it..
