PGP WDE for MAC

  • 1.  PGP WDE for MAC

I am using MAC OS Lion 10.7.  I know that PGP WDE is not compatible with Lion (Symantec - what are you waiting for?).  However, I need to use the zip/encryption/self de-encrypting for specific files.  I will not encrypt my hard drive using PGP.   If I do not encrypt the hard drive, will there be an issue installing PGP WDE on the Lion machine and only using it for the zip/encryption/self de-encrypting feature for specific files.    I need a FIPS 140-2 approved zip/encrytion option.  Therefore, WinZip is not a preferred option.

Given that Symantec is slow to respond to the release of Lion (BTW WinMagic has a beta for Lion), I need a work around to encrypt specific files.  Thank You.

10.2MP1 was released earlier in the week.  It supports Lion.

    Thanks

I have not seen an official release statement.  Can you point me to one?

    Thanks.

I'm not sure if the update announcements have been published to the site.  If you visit your FileConnect, you should definitely see the files available.  The version you are looking for will have the "MP1" in the file name.

Below is an cut/paste from the Release Notes for the PGP for MAC Release Notes.  Please note this is a maintenance pack release so no new features.  Specific to the PGP for MAC, the below are the changes...namely (compatibility for Lion)

What's Changed in PGP Desktop for Mac OS X 10.2.0 MP 1

    •  Resolved the issues with compatibility between PGP Desktop and Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion).
    • Resolved the issue where PGP Viewer did not directly support decrypting emails from Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac OS X. Note that Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac OS X version 14.1.0 is required.

Thanks.  Are there instructions on how to update previous dowlnloads (I did not install) of WDE for Mac?   Will my account automatically have the update?

If your account already has the PGP Universal Server 3.2 or PGP Desktop (WDE) downloads for 10.2. then it will include MP1 now as well.  There is also release notes (documentation) available for download on FileConnect also.

Just be sure, the release resolves the WDE issues - right?

Is the new release of PGP Desktop compatible with Apple's time machine?

I am trying to update my PGP 10.1.2 Build 9 SDK 4.0.1, but is hard to find the new PGP 10.2.0 MP1.

Is everyone, which, paid for the 10.0 is eligible for the 10.2?

I remember that if I paid for the software I would be eligible for updates until it changes for new version (e.g. 10.0 unitl 10.xxx) if change versio for version 11 I wouldn't be eligible anymore. Am I correct?

If yes how can I get a new version?

    Regards

The PDF I linked to above describes the way to receive any updates/upgrades you are eligible for.  It also states how to contact  Customer Care who handles all issues related to licensing and what updates/upgrades you are eligible for.
