Dell Latitude E6520 + PGP Desktop 10.0.1

    Hello,

We will soon be using Dell Latitude E6520 laptops.

I installed PGP Whole Disk Encryption on this laptop. When attempting to boot, it jumps right through the PGP screen and stalls on a black screen with the message "initializing loader".

I don't want to debug, I just want to know if you have a PGP Desktop version that works fine with this laptop?

Presently we are using the following versions of PGP.
     - PGP Universal Server 3.01 Build (4054)
     - PGP Desktop 10.0.1.4054

System Information for Dell Latitude E6520
     - BIOS Version: A04
     - Processor type: Intel Core i5-2540 CPU @ 2.60 GHz
     - Video Controller: Intel HD Graphics
     - OS: Windows XP 32bit
     - All manufacturer drivers are up to date.
     - All Windows updates are up to date.

This very long thread should be helpful.

To sum them up you'll basically need to update to PGP Desktop 10.1.2 SP2 (Build 26) to fix this - it's to do with the new hardware in the laptop: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH158600

You'll also need the appropriate recovery disk to get passed the broken Bootguard screen: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH160346

We had the same issue on a Dell E5520.

Where can I download the last version of PGP Universal Server and PGP Desktop?

I opened a support case this morning for the recovery CD ISO image. Do you know when can I download it?

    Hello,

    Here’s what I see :

    In PGP Universal Server,

    • PGPUniversal3.1.2.pup (April 7, 2011)
    • PGPUniversal3.1.2_PGPDesktop10.1.2.pup (April 7, 2011)
    • PGPUniversalWeb3.1.2Full.zip (April 7, 2011)

     In PGP Whole Disk Encryption,

    • PGPDesktop10.0.3_Windows.zip (March 17, 2011)

    I don’t see the version 10.1.2 SP2 anywhere.

    Thanks

    Hi

You need to call Support to get the fix, its not (yet?) public.

The fix will not be made available to the public. Service packs require a support case opened. You can submit a case by following the links below in my signature.  We will have this fix avaliable publicly with the next general release that will be coming out sometime in late summer.

however it does not look like our company pays for support, only the software.

I am running Win7 SP1 with PGP 10.1.2 and cannot get past the loader initlizing screen.

I need to get this fixed now so i can ship this laptop to Singapore and go home.

TECH160346 says to ring tech support for it but they will not help me without a support contract.
