There have not been new certified definitions in more than a day. Is there something wrong. We usually get three a day.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query. There is not any hard core rule for it.

File-based AV - Updated daily (with SEP's Multiple Daily Definitions, certified content is typically released three times a day Monday through Friday; one time per day on weekends).

Network-Based Protection (IPS)- SEP Security Updates (SU) are generally updated on Weekdays (M-F - no releases scheduled for weekend or major holidays in the United States).

Behavior-Based Protection / Proactive Threat Protection - There is no set schedule.  The article linked below contains additional information.

Reputation-Based Protection (Insight) - Continually updated as it is a cloud based detection.

Symantec simply hasn't released them yet. Only thing you can do is be patient and wait.

Symantec is currently experiencing technical difficulties which have impacted the ability to create and publish certified and rapid release virus definitions.
The most current definitions available are 09/10/2014 rev.2

For more information of current definition update please check the link below

Will keep you posted on the updated status. Also you can check the above link for the current available definitions

    Regards

I'd hope Symantec would be a bit more informative than 'Symantec is currently experiencing technical difficulties'.

This is the second time in as many months where a snafu has impacted customers being able to obtain a definition.  A bug in the 08/03/2014 r34 definitions prevented the ability to download defintions until it was acknowledge / resolved on 8/5/2014.

Once is a fluke, twice is a trend.

    Hello all,

Cheers for the posts, above- yes, SEP 12.1 definitions are available via LiveUpdate.  For customers still running SEP 11 (please upgrade to 12.1, SEP 11 users: less than four months remain before SEP 11 reaches its EOL) I recommend downloading and applying Rapid Release definitions as soon as possible.

This article will help to deploy this protection throughout the organization:

How to update definitions for Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) using a .jdb file

    Article URL http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102607

Or the RR defs can be applied to a single client:

How to apply rapid release definitions to a Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client.

    Article URL http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH104979

Should definitions ever be unavailable for more than a day via LiveUpdate, I definitely recommend applying a Rapid Release set.

Hope this helps!  I will update this thread later when news is available.

    Mick

Today the same issue is running in site, defintion is 9/13/2014 rev. 21 on symantec site but the Rapid release defintion is updated on daily bases.

I recommend you to update the Rapid release defintion.

Rapid release does not work for LiveUpdate Adminstrator instances.
